Prologue – “Bad Day”
I’m not one who is easily rattled.
In fact, my cage is so secure it might as well
be anchored to the ground in
concrete. It’s why I’m so damn good at what I do—corporate law. ‘The Shark’ is what they call me. I
revel in it, thrive under pressure. In fact, cool calm and collected should be
my middle names.
Then, like the flip of a coin, there is the
other half of my life. The side that isn’t so organized. My personal life, the part of my
life that should be under control, is a cluster fuck right now. And as always
it all points to one person.
By day, I’m like Teflon—shit doesn’t stick to me. I don’t let it. My work doesn’t get brought
home; it starts and ends at my office door. Just the way I like it.
I should be sitting back in my soft leather
recliner, drinking a well-earned glass of Macallan on ice. So why am I sitting in front of a computer
screen watching security footage of my younger brother Ryan hand an envelope to
an unknown man at the club?
My fucking club.
Thankfully the video I’m watching isn’t a live feed.
That would have been too much for me to handle. I have a pretty controlled
temperament, but I’d be barreling down there and punching him in the face, then kicking his
useless ass to the curb once and for all. Instead, I’m watching delayed
footage from yesterday afternoon that my private investigator sent me.
Blood or not, nobody fucks me over. I suspect
Ryan is putting the club and me on someone’s unwelcome radar, and I don’t need the
attention or the bullshit. Yes, I know the fact that I have a PI watching my
own brother speaks volumes. Ryan is a gullible son of a bitch with a magnet for
assholes and trouble in equal measure. As soon as I had an inkling that he was
involved in dodgy shit (again), I asked my friend Asher to step in and monitor
the situation for me. It was a necessary step to take. He fucked up two months
ago and I stood by him but now…well, enough is enough.

And now for the Sean aka Mr Dom teasers....
I shrug on my standard issue, CPD shirt over my black demi bra and lace panties, quickly checking my watch to make sure I’m still early. Our previous shower ten minutes ago had been a vigorous one, starting with Sean lifting me up, and wrapping my legs around his shoulders as he feasted between my legs, making me cry out his name before dropping my feet to the shower floor, hooking his arm under one knee and driving into me, making me come apart again before he took his fill.
The problem was, I didn’t get to do what I wanted to do to him.
Walking into Sean’s ensuite, my breath catches as I see the man in question standing in front of the bathroom sink with a hand on the edge, bracing himself as he runs his old school, double-edged razor along his rough jaw. Dressed in nothing but a white towel wrapped around his waist, he looks every inch the sexy man I know he is. Rivulets of water reflect in the light, and I try to find the restraint to stay away from him.
But where Sean is concerned, restraint is not possible.
I catch his eye in the mirror as I slowly walk up behind him. His green eyes darken as he reads the lust-filled expression on my face. Raising a brow, he silently questions my intent before turning to face me.
“Sammy, what—”
I reach up and place a finger on his lips to silence him before leaning down and licking the irresistible drop off water off his pecs. I look back up and gently drag my finger down his body, making a trail as I drop to my knees in front of him.
“You’re killing me here…”
“Not yet, but give me a minute and I’m sure I’ll come close.”

After waiting
ten minutes in Victor’s kitchen, and another ten minutes in my car as it
rumbled loudly in the driveway, the princess is finally seated in the black
leather bucket seat beside me, arms crossed and looking none too happy about
her predicament.
“You going to
sit there and pout like a spoiled brat not getting her own way, or you actually
going to talk to me?” I look over at the raven haired woman in my passenger
seat who still has my groin tight and my breath lost.
She looks my
way and scowls. “I don’t even know your name! And anyway, why would I want to
talk to one of my father’s underlings who probably doesn’t know his head from
his ass? Hell, even your hot ass muscle car is probably paid for with dirty
fucking money.” She smirks, and I see it—that spark. The fire that I saw
burning in her eyes this morning when we met.
I stop at an
intersection and wait for the traffic lights to change. “Seems there are a few
things we need to clear up, cupcake. My name is Shay, and this hot ass muscle
car is mine and mine alone. No dirty fucking money involved. And I can assure
you right now, I definitely know my head from my ass. You know what else?” I
lean in towards her ear. “I also know where your ass and head are, and right
now one is stuck so far up the other, it’s a wonder you don’t need breath
mints.”
